Celtic are set to get another big airing on Japanese television after TV Tokyo spent time in Scotland with the club’s various stars and former manager Ange Postecoglou.
The high-profile show FOOTxBRAIN will be broadcast on 1st July and 9th July in Japan, per their announcement tweet earlier today.
Pictures of Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yuki Kobayashi, Tomoki Iwata and Ange Postecoglou were uploaded to their social media channels, hyping up what is described as a ‘must-see’ programme.
Japanese Celtic content creator Yatao said on social media that FOOTxBRAIN is “the most popular football TV show in Japan” and that the show will interview and analyse the players in depth.
Hopefully, reliable translations emerge from the broadcasts, as it’s always interesting here our Japanese contingent’s views on football, Celtic and life in Scotland.
It comes ahead of the club’s planned trip to Asia next month. The squad and coaching staff will fly out on 16th July for a match against Yokohama F.Marinos on 19th July, before facing Gamba Osaka on 22nd July.
A match had been planned against Wolves in Seoul, South Korea after that but the English side are no longer travelling to Asia and alternative Celtic plans have not yet been announced.

Celtic have forged a significant footballing presence in that area of the world after a number of high-profile transfer deals. In the past, other major Japanese outlets have aired documentaries on Kyogo and featured Reo Hatate as a guest.
It’s smart of the club to give these outlets and shows access at Lennoxtown that UK media might not otherwise get. We saw similar coverage hit Australian TV screens last year after Postecoglou’s first title win.
Anything that promotes the Celtic brand in a global context is a winner.
