Manchester City must make quick Patrick Roberts decision

Former Celtic loanee Patrick Roberts is out of contract in over a year’s time.

The Manchester City man cost them £11 million from Fulham in 2015.

Since the buy, the England youth international has went to the Hoops on loan twice and then on to Girona.

Unfortunately, Roberts isn’t really impressing in La Liga meaning a return is less likely next season.

Roberts is the move Celtic fans will love

The tricky winger is adored by the Celtic fans for understanding the ethos of the club and what he provided during his spells.

His famous friendship with fellow favourite Kieran Tierney only helped cement him into fan popularity.

The Bhoys are crying out for someone with his natural ability and is someone who can take the club to the next level.

It is very unfortunate his last period in Glasgow was blighted with injury problems.

However, a return to the Scottish Premiership can right a lot of previous wrongs for Roberts.

Obstacles for potential Roberts move to Celtic

In an ideal world, the 22-year-old joins Celtic next year on a free and everyone is happy.

The Bhoys don’t have the money even now to pry the Englishman away from the English champions.

However, in less than a year’s time talks of a pre-contract agreement can be spoken about.

If the Hoops are really that eager in the summer to bring him back, perhaps another loan deal with a cheaper option to buy in January can be arranged.

City will get some of their money back on him and the Hoops get Roberts for longer.

Nevertheless, Celtic must pull out all the stops to make sure he is in the hoops once again.

It’s a no-brainer and the fans will love it, but will it be seen as a backwards move by the board?
