Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne must be on cloud nine having won the Carabao Cup at the weekend.
The Citizens are within touching distance of Liverpool at the top of the English Premier League.
However, a bit of historical knowledge is lacking in one of the best players in the game.
The Belgian believes nobody has done the quadruple, but Celtic have.
If you know the history, Kevin
The light blues are in every competition and have won one of four already this season.
Already the press are in the ears of City’s big stars to see if they will do the unthinkable and win everything.
However, De Bruyne must be feeling the pressure to be making such a gaffe about The Bhoys.
The Belgian told Sky Sports News on a quadruple possibility: “Almost impossible.
“We are going to try and win as many games as possible. If you do that you must be considered the best team ever because nobody has done it.”
We’ll forgive him, but the former Chelsea man is forgetting the famous Lisbon Lions team of the 1966/67 season.
The Hoops went further than the quadruple – winning the league, League Cup, Scottish Cup, European Cup and the Glasgow Cup.
However, we will let the 27-year-old off with not knowing the once competitive city-wide tournament.
Celtic won quadruple against comparable opponents
Some may say that Manchester City have a harder road to their quadruple possibility due to the calibre of their opponents.
However, this would be forgetting that in 1966/67, the Hoops had just as hard competitors domestically.
Not only did Celtic win the European Cup, Rangers were in the Cup Winners Cup final and Kilmarnock were semi-finalists of the Fairs Cup – losing out to the famous Leeds United team of the time.
The Scottish league was strong and the Hoops beat an Inter team who were regular winners of the cup at the time.
They were the best team in the world at that time and so will Manchester City if they manage to repeat the feat.
However, let’s not forget, Celtic did it first.
