Manchester United are said to be interested in former Celtic forward Moussa Dembele. According to French paper L’equipe, the Red Devils have made contact with Lyon about the 22 year-old.
Dembele made the switch from Celtic for close to £20million last summer. He left after two successful seasons at the club. The forward has since netted 18 goals for the Ligue 1 side, including 12 since the turn of the year.

The Frenchman was a real fans favourite during his time at Parkhead, but left hastily after an alleged falling out with Brendan Rodgers.
Arsenal are also rumoured to be interested in the striker along with La Liga club Atletico Madrid.

Dembele move could help Celtic
Celtic are rumoured to hold a percentage sell-on fee for Dembele’s next move. The Hoops did similar when they sold Virgil Van Dijk to Southampton in 2015. That meant that they scooped a whopping £7.5million when Van Dijk moved to Liverpool for ten times that amount.

It’s fair to assume that the percentage would be similar in Dembele’s case. This means that we could add another £5million to the coffers if Dembele moves for the £50million that has been rumoured.
That money could easily be spent on two quality players to add to the first team if and when Dembele moves on. It could mean that we are less likely to sell our current prized assets too.
Reality is that the likes of Callum McGregor, Odsonne Edouard and Kieran Tierney will have to move on at some stage. When they do, it would make sense to hold a good percentage sell on fee.
