Marco Tilio addresses the ‘the conversations’ about his future at Celtic

Marco Tilio arrived at Celtic as Australia’s most expensive footballing export.

The young Australian joined Celtic in June 2023, just days after Brendan Rodgers returned to the club, but injury and homesickness blighted his Hoops career.

Tilio made just two appearances in the green and white Hoops, amassing just 28 minutes of first-team football at Celtic Park.

Now on loan at Melbourne City, the young Aussie has spoken out about his Celtic future after appearing in the 2-0 win over McArthur at the weekend.

Marco Tilio expects ‘conversations’ about his Celtic future

Now at Melbourne for his second loan spell, Tilio seems to realise that his Celtic career is all but over.

But as far as a permanent move goes, the 23-year-old winger admits he’s still in the dark.

Tilio told News.com, “There has been a little bit of chat but nothing concrete yet. I’m sure in the next couple of months the conversations will start to ramp up, and we’ll see where it goes from there.

“My only thought is to play, play well and put myself out there and have better options to consider at the end of this season.”

Tilio has been enjoying a decent run in the Melbourne team this season. Making his ninth appearance, his 13th overall, the winger has scored a total of four goals so far.

Making Melbourne’s starting XI seven times out of nine since Tilio recovered from injury, it seems that he is an integral part of Tony Vidmar’s plans.

Hopefully, his future can be sorted out sooner rather than later because it would be good for both Tilio and Celtic if both parties can move on from a transfer that never worked out.
