Celtic loanee Marco Tilio returned to Melbourne City on loan after struggling to make a breakthrough at Parkhead under Brendan Rodgers.
Due to a combination of injury issues and competition for places, Tilio made two Celtic cameo appearances last campaign before heading back to the A-League in January.
Continuing his stay with Melbourne City in the summer, the winger made a positive start to the season and appeared to have put the worst of his problems behind him back on familiar soil.

On the opening day of the City Boys’ league season, Tilio struck the winner against Newcastle Jets to help his side to a 1-0 victory.
Earning regular minutes, the Australia international also featured in the Melbourne Derby, but couldn’t make the difference as his side went down 3-1 against Melbourne Victory.
Unfortunately, latest developments see him back in a familiar position as he looks to enjoy a consistent run in Aurelio Vidmar’s side at AAMI Park.
Marco Tilio’s latest injury worry after withdrawal
Earlier today, Tilio was taken off in Melbourne City’s 1-0 A-League victory over Western Utd and looked visibly distressed when withdrawn from proceedings.
Going down holding his left hamstring, his side will hope his latest injury concern isn’t a recurrence of a tendon injury that saw him miss two months of football last campaign.
Journalist Sacha Pisani added some context to the situation, stating: “Heartbreaking scenes watching Marco Tilio leave the pitch with what appears to be a hamstring injury. Tilio visibly upset as he hobbles off, having clutched his hamstring in the first half of Melbourne City’s clash with Western United.”
The extent of the Celtic loanee’s problem hasn’t yet been disclosed, so hopefully, Tilio’s fears can be allayed upon further assessment.
Marco Tilio’s Celtic future is uncertain
Despite being brought in as a highly-rated talent, Tilio admitted his Celtic future hangs in the balance when discussing his aspirations for the coming season.
He said: “I just want to play consistent games, do really well and put myself in a really good position to either return to Scotland or go on loan elsewhere in Europe.”
Realistically, it is hard to imagine Tilio making the grade at Parkhead. After a promising start to the campaign, you hope injury doesn’t derail his chances of thriving out of the Celtic limelight.
Ultimately, there is no further information available on that front yet, but 67 Hail Hail will ensure fans are informed should any developments come to light.
