As Celtic prepare to face Livingston this afternoon they do so knowing that Cameron Carter-Vickers is available to face David Martindale’s side.
The US international defender will be a welcome sight for the Celtic supporters especially at this stage of the season when the title race enters it’s final stages.
With only two points separating Celtic and Rangers at the top of the table, every point is a prisoner and that is why the return of Carter-Vickers is vital for Brendan Rodgers.
The Celtic defence looks shaky without the 26-year-old and when he was out of the team we did struggle without him.
That was clear and that’s also the thoughts of former Celtic players according to journalist, Mark Guidi.
Guidi was speaking about the upcoming Livingston game when he shared what he’s been said about Carter-Vickers by former Hoops players whilst the defender was out injured.
Carter-Vickers’ loss to Celtic is ‘huge’
Guidi said [The Go Radio Football Show], “He’s really important. You speak to a number of former Celtic players who know the game and assess the team and they say that Cameron Carter-Vickers has been a big, big loss to Celtic.
“He’s available but will he start? If you believe the old cliché of ‘one game at a time’, then Cameron Carter-Vickers has got to start because your next game is the most important one.
“So to get through it, Celtic, will try and get a lead, try and get a couple of goals and even if they can, bring him off after an hour and wrap him in cotton wool ahead of the trip to Ibrox the following weekend.”
Carter-Vickers is a hugely popular player with the Celtic supporters. He is certainly one of the most important players, if not the most important player, in Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Solid in the tackle, Carter-Vickers is a tough opponent for any attacker in the league and he is rarely bested whenever he plays.
Carter-Vickers’ pace at the back is crucial. Celtic were exposed time and against against Motherwell and in the Scottish Cup against Livingston last month whenever long balls where played over the top. Especially against The Steelmen.
And I can’t help but agree with Guidi and the former Hoops stars. Carter-Vickers is that important he must play today. Get out of Livingston with the three vital points and worry about the Rangers game after that.
Because if we don’t play Carter-Vickers and fail to win today, then we put unnecessary extra pressure on ourselves ahead of the Glasgow Derby next week as Rangers’ game in hand, if won, will put them five points ahead in the league.
