Celtic boss Martin O’Neill has been inducted into the League Managers Association’s Hall of Fame 1,000 club.
Of course, it’s not the only honour picked up by O’Neill this May, after he guided Celtic to a league and Scottish Cup double.
It was an unlikely double, too, given that the team were well adrift at the beginning of both of his interim spells, one replacing Brendan Rodgers and the other being restored after Wilfried Nancy.
Give us your gut feeling after the cup final… will Martin O’Neill be Celtic manager next season?

O’Neill officially hit 1000 games in management in February… sadly, he hit the milestone in Celtic’s heavy home defeat against Stuttgart.
He went on to deliver an iconic league and cup double later in his interim spell.

Alongside Steve Bruce, he was formally inducted at the LMA Annual Awards dinner on Tuesday evening. O’Neill has served as the Chair of the LMA since 2024.
Sir Alex Ferguson said in tribute to O’Neill: “Many congratulations on joining the LMA Hall of Fame 1,000 club, Martin, and on a career that combines hard work, success and longevity.
“I always enjoyed competing against you and your teams, who undoubtedly gave everything for you and embodied your personality and commitment.
“Your dedication, from beginning your career in non-league, climbing the ranks to win silverware in the Premier League and Scottish Premiership, and manage regularly in European club football, as well as on the international stage, is a legacy to be very proud of.
“I am not surprised to see that your enthusiasm for leadership and management continues to shine through today as Celtic manager.”
Is the story set to continue? O’Neill remains in discussions over his permanent future at Celtic.

Celtic’s decision on Martin O’Neill
With such a stellar record across both of his interim spells this season, you’d have to assume that O’Neill is the club’s first choice for the job.
However, a completely different challenge awaits next season, with a significant rebuild of the team’s playing squad ahead.
The factor of O’Neill’s age has undoubtedly been done to death, but the fact remains that he would be well within his rights to call it a day after such a special farewell.
Should someone else step into the dugout, Robbie Keane and Craig Bellamy would be the main two contenders.
