It will only be clear at the end of the season just how much damage this Wilfried Nancy reign has done to Celtic’s season.

Martin O’Neill has a huge task on his hands, just like he did the first time around when he returned for an interim spell in October.

As of this moment, Celtic are third in the Premiership table, six points off leaders Hearts, and three points behind second-placed Rangers, who have played a game extra.

O’Neill has been upbeat upon his return, including his regular appearances on talkSPORT, especially after he replaced Wilfried Nancy on Monday.

What do think of the first Celtic training session under Martin O’Neill? Let us know in the comments.

Martin O’Neill’s blunt response to Jim White regarding Celtic’s title chances

There is nobody better in the Parkhead building who understands what it’s like to win a Premiership title than O’Neill.

The legendary Irishman won three during his first stint in Glasgow, the final one being during the 2003/04 campaign.

But when Jim White brought up Celtic’s title chances on talkSPORT, O’Neill admitted that it’s going to be a ‘very, very difficult’ task.

That’s when White proceeded to state that it’s O’Neill’s ‘personal ambition’ to ‘win the title outright.’

In typical O’Neill style, he told the Scottish presenter that he has ‘a habit of trying to put words into people’s mouths’, and how he is going to ‘change that.’

Jim White: “What’s the target now, Martin? Have you got to win the league?”

O’Neill: “That has not been something that has been put to me. It will be very, very difficult. We are behind, so it will be difficult for us, and it will be a challenge for us.”

White: “That has to be Martin O’Neill’s personal ambition at this stage, though, is it not? To win the title outright.”

O’Neill: “Jim, you have a habit of trying to put words into people’s mouths, and you have done that very, very successfully for quite some time. I am going to try and change that.”
