Celtic fans are still waiting on significant transfer business being completed this January as Martin O’Neill looks to bolster the squad for the title run-in.

So far, Celtic have completed two transfers by adding Julian Araujo and Tomas Cvancara to the ranks this month.

However, what is crystal clear is that the Celtic squad still needs more reinforcements as fans start to lose patience at the apparent inaction.

Where do Celtic still need to strengthen after signing Tomas Cvancara and Julian Araujo?

So when Martin O’Neill was told that Celtic fans are angry with the lack of transfer business, the Hoops boss had a message for them.

Martin O’Neill ‘reasonably confident’ Celtic will complete transfers

O’Neill knows he needs more players to help support his attempt to defend Celtic’s title, and so do the fans.

And after being told that Celtic fans are angry with the lack of January business, O’Neill had a message for the Parkhead support.

O’Neill told Celtic TV, “Well, I think that’s the case, I think, for the transfer window. There’s a certain length of time and after January, it’s all over.

“So, if there’s an anxiety, I don’t know whether there’s an anger there. If you’re telling me that’s there, then I’ll take your word for it.

“But there would be an anxiety, a worry getting back to it, that we get the players in. But I’m confident, or reasonably confident, that we can do it.”

Where Celtic still need to strengthen

Another striker would be good. Kelechi Iheanacho returns to training this week but who knows how long his hamstrings can hold out.

Another left-winger to support Daizen Maeda would be a good move as well as a centre-back and a defensive midfielder.

Will O’Neill get all that? Unlikely, but they can dream.
