Massimo Donati picks out James Forrest as key Celtic threat
Former Celtic hero Massimo Donati has pinpointed James Forrest as the key man Lazio must shackle in Thursday’s Europa League meeting.
The Serie A giants are in Glasgow for the crunch Group E clash, and could jump ahead of the Hoops in the standings with a victory. However, Donati – who played for the likes of AC Milan and Atalanta during his career – reckons they will have to keep Forrest quiet if they are to do so.
Asked for Celtic’s most important player, the 38-year-old told the Daily Record:
“I’d say Forrest . In my view he’s the most interesting individual, he’s capable of incredible bursts of speed and he’s physically robust.”
Donati is right to pick out Forrest
The Hoops winger is likely to be one of the main men who Simone Inzaghi’s side have their eye on. Forrest has been a key player for Celtic in domestic competition over the past few years but it is only this season when he has become a real force in Europe.
His recent scoring record on the continent is sublime. Forrest has netted in four of Celtic’s last six European matches, while he’s also helped set up two of our three group stage goals so far.
If the Italians are serious about stopping us in the East End of Glasgow they will have a plan to keep the winger quiet. If they don’t then he could once again pounce on a massive opportunity.
