Celtic has a plethora of talent at their disposal.
The recruitment department at Celtic has done a superb job over the last five years procuring the likes of Reo Hatate, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Paulo Bernardo, to name but a few.
However, as these players flourish, not many have been named or mentioned as being captain material for the club (with the exception of Carter-Vickers, of course).
However, as players flourish and hit a real purple patch of form in the business end of this season, pundit Gordon Dalziel has said that Celtic supporters ‘must be really worried’ that they could lose a player with the potential of replacing Callum McGregor as captain.

Alistair Johnston lauded as a ‘future captain’ for Celtic but with a caveat
Alistair Johnston is a much-loved figure amongst Celtic fans and Johnston has had transfer interest shown in him from clubs in England.
That seems to have sparked Dalziel into warning the Parkhead club that they could lose Johnston who has the potential of becoming the captain of Celtic in the future.
Dalziel told Superscoreboard [1h 3m], “They’ve been really successful and have a look at them in Europe and, obviously, they’re going for a domestic treble.
“The league’s already in the bag. They’ve got players there that Celtic fans must be really worried. Alistair Johnston would be a massive loss for me, right?
“I think he’s a future captain at Celtic. You’re looking at him, you’re looking at Maeda; you’re looking at Hatate. Kuhn, probably, people are looking at.
“They’ve got talented players that people are starting to sit up and notice. It could be a big close season for Celtic.”
Alistair Johnston’s impressive Celtic Park career
Johnston joined Celtic and made his debut against Rangers in the 2022 January transfer window to replace the outgoing Josip Juranovic.
The Canadian has been a mainstay in Celtic’s first-team and has won a variety of silverware in his three years at the club.

Johnston looks set to add another two winner’s medals to his name this season and really embed his name into the history books at Celtic if he can help win the ninth treble in the club’s history.
