Celtic’s first-half performance against Kilmarnock was a thing of beauty.

Four goals in a devastating 27-minute first-half period asserted Celtic’s dominance at the top of the league.

Matt O’Riley was named the Man of the Match after a fine attacking display saw him contribute two goals to the cause, with Daizen Maeda following up on Kyogo Furuhashi’s opener.

Sky Sports announced this afternoon that O’Riley, alongside Celtic defender Greg Taylor, was named in WhoScored’s Team of the Week with some impressive numbers to boot.

Taylor’s performance was rated at a healthy 8.58. The data shows he won all of his tackles [2], was joint top in interceptions made [3] and won back possession seven times in the Kilmarnock final third, which was more than any other player. He also created one assist.

O’Riley was rated at a very impressive and rare 10 out of 10 by the WhoScored system, just the sixth time a player has managed that in the Scottish Premiership this season.

On top of his two goals, the midfielder notched four shots on goal, thirteen touches in the Kilmarnock final third and four key passes in the game. Defensively he also successfully won three tackles and made a crucial clearance.

The message Celtic sent out to our rivals

I know this is an old adage but it’s never been more pertinent. We never stop.

After last week’s Glasgow Derby win all but sealed the Premiership title, Postecoglou’s team have shown that even though there is a comfortable 12-point lead at the top of the table, we will continue to play our football and punish opponents.

We will pursue teams with the same ferocity at the end of the season as we did at the beginning.

With only six games left to play and a Scottish Cup semi-final, any rivals will know that it will take something pretty special to stop us.
