The Celtic dressing room would be an interesting place to be a fly on the wall, especially in crunch times when results are required to fulfil the never-ending desire for silverware at Parkhead.

Nevertheless, it also must be a lot of fun, and it is clear that our current crop of players all share a collective bond that will serve them well as they look to achieve their objectives.

Brendan Rodgers is the man charged with commanding the area alongside club captain Callum McGregor. However, every coach or player befitting a leadership position will have their own way of establishing their authority.

Spending most of the week in contact with each other via training and matchday alongside external club activities is likely to produce a tight-knit environment well-equipped to handle the pressure of life at Celtic.

Despite this, there is also plenty of time for having a laugh and a joke, which is something Matt O’Riley has delved into recently, giving fans a unique insight into what goes on behind the scenes at Parkhead.

Matt O’Riley reveals surprise Celtic dressing room joker

Every dressing room has its characters, and O’Riley has revealed one joker at Celtic that may come as a bit of a surprise to some amid his chilled-out nature.

The Denmark international has revealed Cameron Carter-Vickers can be a ‘loose cannon’ when it comes to having a laugh and went into detail about a hilarious prank the United States international pulled off involving Stephen Welsh.

O’Riley explained [Celtic TV – Off the Pitch series]: “Cameron Carter-Vickers is a loose cannon. I don’t know if everyone knows this, but he is. He is (reserved), but when it comes to pranks, something kind of clicks in his brain, and he’s got a real joy about doing it.

He then added: “I think it was between him and Welshy. I’m not even sure I’m allowed to say this, but I’m going to say it anyway! He ended up clamping Welshy’s car tyre and driving all the way back home.

“Welshy went out to his car and saw what had happened, didn’t really know what to do. He ended up having to drive all the way to Cam’s apartment via an Uber.

“Cam gave him the keys to get the wheel, and he had to go back. It just shows the dedication he gives to seeing a prank through, you know. It’s not my story to tell, but I’ve told it.”

Off-field insight can always provide its fair share of humour and give a better insight into the dynamic of players’ friendships. Carter-Vickers seems to be someone very committed to seeing through a task, whether it be a crunching tackle or a prank on his central defensive partner.

As long as he can continue to perform in our title hunt, most fans won’t be too fussed about what their heroes get up to in their spare time.
