Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart has decided to bring the curtain down on his football career at the end of the season.

Capped 75 times by England, the 36-year-old, at the time of writing, has made 138 appearances for the Bhoys, keeping 59 clean sheets in total [Transfermarkt].

Making a mark in his time at Parkhead, the Shrewsbury-born man has claimed five trophies alongside performing admirably under both Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers.

In his pomp, Hart was among the best goalkeepers in the world and played a major part in Manchester City’s rise to prominence, winning two Premier League titles.

His former teammate Gael Clichy has described the veteran as the best stopper he has ever played with, stating earlier this month

Clichy stated: “He wasn’t so blessed in terms of playing out from the back, but in terms of pure goalkeeping skills, I don’t think I’ve played with a better goalkeeper and I don’t think we’ve seen a better goalkeeper in England over the past few years.”

Now hurtling towards the final stretch of his distinguished journey, Hart will be keen to sign off by bringing silverware to Parkhead.

Former Celtic man John Hartson has paid tribute to Hart’s ‘brilliant career’ in a heartfelt post on social media.

The ex-Wales forward has also talked up the possibility of a future coaching role for the Englishman at the club, which would be an intriguing proposition for all involved.

At this stage, it is unclear what Hart may fancy doing once he does hang up his gloves, given that his focus is likely to be on the battle for Scottish Premiership glory.

His experience is an invaluable trait; however, we will probably need to wait until further down the line to hear about his next step after life as a footballer.
