“Maybe not” – Neil Lennon comments on further striker recruitment

Celtic boss Neil Lennon gave the distinct impression that he may be happy with his lot of strikers currently at the club.

The Hoops have Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Bayo all on their books at present, while new recruit Patryk Klimala is another welcome addition to the setup.

Some believe that Lennon should look to attract another forward given Bayo and Griffiths’ form this campaign.

But, without completely ruling it out, Lennon hinted that the latter’s upturn may have persuaded him not to enter the market again.

“Well at the minute we’ve got Odsonne and obviously Griff,” Lennon told press on Friday. (Official Celtic YouTube channel)

“Griff’s looking good. He’s had a good Dubai trip and he’s trained well this week so.. maybe not [bring another forward in].

“Maybe not. We’ll see how things go over the next few weeks.”

Lennon not buying another striker could give Griffiths a big confidence boost

These Lennon comments seem to have gone a little unnoticed among all the other transfer chat.

But what he is saying is very interesting indeed.

He clearly think he has a good third striker at the club (if Edouard and Klimala are seen as our top two).

That man is probably Leigh Griffiths given how highly he praised him for his work in Dubai and since the team returned to Scottish soil.

That can only bode well for Griffiths. He’s struggled to find his feet badly over the past few months but he now has a fresh chance to show what he can do.

He’s far from a busted flush at 29-years-old and just needs to get back to doing what he does best – putting the ball in the net.

Lennon showing some faith in him and not bringing in another forward could be just what he needed.
