Former Celtic man Scott McDonald has made an interesting comparison between a current and former Celtic forward.
The Australian, who played for the club between 2007 and 2010, reckons Odsonne Edouard has a similar playing style to Georgios Samaras.

Speaking to the Daily Record, McDonald said: “When I think of his style I immediately think, ‘Samaras.’ Georgios is a prime example of that laid-back player.
“I played with him for two seasons at Celtic and that was just Sammy.
“He’d be infuriating one minute and the next be turning up and delivering in the big games.”

Is the comparison fair?
The Frenchman may feel slightly aggrieved by McDonald’s comparison. Strikers are judged on goals and Edouard is far more prolific than Samaras.
The Greek forward’s most productive season in Hoops arrived in 2008/2009 when he notched 17 goals in all competitions. Odsonne Edouard has already comfortably beaten that that in his first full season at the Hoops.

The 21-year-old scored 23 goals for Celtic in all competitions this season.
One trait the duo share is an ability to turn it on in big games. Both have proven to be goalscorers in matches against Rangers and in Europe while run of the mill league games often see them not at their best.
Edouard has the ability to score 30+ goals for Celtic next season if his attitude is right in every game. The youngster has improved significantly from this time last year and will only be better for a full season in the Hoops.
