Micah Richards tells Gary Lineker about a Celtic player he’s ‘always liked’ after watching win vs St Mirren

Micah Richards has talked up Celtic to Gary Lineker after admitting he watched them beat St Mirren at the weekend.

The former England defender was speaking to Lineker about the football he watched over the weekend when he waxed lyrical about Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic performance in Paisley.

Micah Richards was so blown away by Celtic that he said the Parkhead club look in a league of their own as he also admitted that there was one player he has ‘always liked’ at the club.

Richards: Celtic are ‘so good’

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Richards admitted he watched Celtic against St Mirren at the weekend and when asked by Gary Lineker how the game went, the former Man City man waxed lyrical about Hoops captain, Callum McGregor.

Richards said, “It was good, entertaining. Celtic were good. They’re just so good now, Celtic.

“They were playing St. Mirren and it was two different leagues really. Got some good players though. McGregor for Celtic.

“I’ve always liked him, really technical player and scored a good goal. Hatate, he scored a goal as well.

“And Johnson, the right back finished off a 3-0 comfortable win.”

McGregor’s game does seem to have gone up a notch after announcing his retirement from international football a few weeks back.

Not normally known for his goalscoring prowess, the Celtic captain now has two goals in the first three games of the season and it looks like he is hungry for more.

McGregor has been central to Celtic’s successes over the years and has really came into his own when he was captain of the club after Scott Brown left three seasons ago.

And at 31 years of age, the Celtic fans will be hoping to see more of this from their captain as McGregor aims to see out the rest of his career in Paradise.
