After six games in the Scottish Premiership, Celtic sit on maximum points and with a remarkable goal difference of plus 20.
The 6-0 win over St Johnstone is the latest in a series of results in the league that have seen Celtic send out a warning to their rivals that if they want to win the title, they are going to have to work really hard to wrestle it from Brendan Rodgers’ hands.
Because looking at this Celtic team right now, the work rate that is being shown is just as impressive as the football that Rodgers’s side has been putting on.
And Michael Stewart couldn’t believe what he was seeing from one of Celtic’s heroes during the hammering of the McDiarmid Park club.
Daizen Maeda ‘epitomises’ Celtic
Daizen Maeda has been in incredible form for Celtic this season but against St Johnstone on Saturday, the Japanese winger left Stewart in awe.
Speaking on Premier Sports during commentary, Stewart said, “That man Maeda, look at the energy levels from him.
“They’re 6-0 up, and he’s busting a gut to get back in and close down and make sure that his team, never mind concede a goal, doesn’t give up an opportunity to the opponent.
“And that epitomises what this Celtic team is all about as well. The intensity, the work rate and the desire.
“It’s ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous.”
Daizen Maeda continues to draw the Celtic plaudits
So far this season, Maeda has scored five goals in seven appearances for Celtic and has also created two assists.

Had it not been for the intervention of VAR, the Japanese winger would have had a double against the Perth club which would have really complimented his performance.
However, all season long Maeda has been receiving praise for his work rate for the Celtic team but as Stewart said, the fact the Celtic winger was still determined to put in the hard yards so late in the game when the team were cruising is a testament to how hard Maeda wants to work for the team and Brendan Rodgers.
Maeda will be pivotal to Celtic’s success not only on the domestic front but also in the Champions League and with the Japanese winger in the side, Rodgers has a good chance of taking something from Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.
