Celtic fans and supporters of other Scottish football clubs could find a bit of escapism tonight on BT Sport 1, with the confirmation that Scottish Football Extra will go ahead at 6pm.

With no on the pitch action across the country for the foreseeable future, there have also been question marks about the way broadcasters will handle the situation, especially with social isolation measures in place.

High profile pundit Michael Stewart has however posted a message on Twitter this afternoon suggesting that BT Sport have managed to find a format that will provide a bit of much-needed levity for supporters to enjoy from their own homes.

Scottish Football Extra has been a hit show amongst fans over the last few seasons with Stewart, as well as pundits such as Chris Sutton and Stephen Craigan often clashing in discussions led by host Darrell Currie live from stadiums prior to matches.

They never lack for talking points and it’ll be interesting to see what airs tonight as presumably, they will not all be in a single, central location.

It could be just the ticket for any bored fans taking government advice and staying indoors rather than heading out to pubs and other social gatherings.

There’s plenty to discuss given what’s gone on over the last week in Scottish football, with closed-door discussions taking place about how the season should pan out and what might happen if the remaining games cannot be completed.

Hopefully, Celtic’s point of view will be represented robustly given there are some out there looking to null and void all the hard work that’s already gone into the league campaign.
