Celtic’s win over Aberdeen ended up as probably one of the easiest victories over the Pittodrie club in a long time.

The 6-0 win was a result not many people were expecting after Aberdeen went to Celtic Park and secured a draw last month.

However, Jimmy Thelin left Hampden gutted after Celtic dealt Aberdeen a harsh lesson as Brendan Rodgers’ team cruised into next month’s final.

But despite the relative ease of Celtic’s win, Michael Stewart spotted the Celtic boss doing something on the touchline he’s never seen before from Rodgers.

Brendan Rodgers ‘very animated’ during Celtic’s hammering of Aberdeen

At 3-0 up, Rodgers was fuming at his Celtic players and Stewart said it was unlike the Northern Irishman despite the Hoops being in cruise control.

Stewart told Premier Sports, “You see, Brendan Rodgers is still very animated down on the side as you see Jimmy Thelin in conversation again.

“I don’t think I’ve seen Brendan Rodgers as animated as this. I’m saying a long time. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him like that because he’s normally very calm and composed.

“And of course, he celebrates when his team are scoring, but just simple calls in the game where decisions are made, he is very animated today.”

Why Brendan Rodgers was fuming is a good thing for the Celtic fans

The Celtic boss is now the only manager in Scotland with an unbeaten domestic record this season after the Hoops took care of Aberdeen at Hampden.

However, explaining his mood at the time, Rodgers said, “In fairness, I was raging because we had given the ball away and we were a bit slow on it.

“It was a deserved yellow card. It was just the game, I wanted us to play that fraction quicker even though we were comfortable in the game at 3-0.”

This desire for perfection even when Aberdeen had no real chance of getting back into the game epitomises Rodgers’ will to win at Celtic.

When he returned to the club two summers ago, Rodgers said at the time he had a point to prove to the Celtis supporters.

The Hoops boss is in this for the long haul and after watching how he reacted to his players not playing to the standards he demands in a game Celtic cruised, our opponents will need to be very wary this season.

This Brendan Rodgers that Celtic have right now seems hungrier for success second time around and that is something that will worry our rivals.
