After what feels like forever, Michel-Ange Balikwisha is finally a Celtic player.

Balikwisha completed his move to Celtic Park on Thursday night, signing a five-year deal with the Bhoys.

It comes after Balikwisha said goodbye to Royal Antwerp’s supporters before heading to Glasgow.

The 24-year-old has arrived in enough time to mean that he could be thrown into the deep end and make his debut in the first Glasgow derby of the season on Sunday, something he seems excited by already.

Michel-Ange Balikwisha on making his Celtic debut vs Rangers

Making your Celtic debut against Rangers is about as big as it can get.

Alistair Johnston is the last player to make his Hoops debut in the huge showdown and the winger has already won over supporters by acknowledging the ‘importance’ of the fixture.

Speaking to Celtic TV, he said: “For me, it’s the right move because it’s a big club, they play well and they dominate the league.

“I need to be ready because it’s the most important game for the fans and for the club, and if I play in the game, I will give my best to help the team win this big game.”

Brendan Rodgers must throw Michel-Ange Balikwisha into the deep end

Brendan Rodgers has finally got his man and at the perfect time after the midweek disappointment of a Champions League exit.

Reinforcements in the wide positions have been a priority for some time and with Hyunjun Yang linked to Birmingham City, the possibility of another leaving left even more cause for concern.

The Celtic manager needs to breathe some new life into the side and although it’s a big occasion, Balikwisha is ready to become a hero.
