Hopefully, this is a start of things to come from Michel-Ange Balikwisha at Celtic.
Balikwisha was a late arrival during the 2025 summer transfer window, and he made his Celtic debut in the Glasgow derby.
First impressions are always important, and whilst the game itself was the dullest Glasgow has ever seen, it was still a pretty underwhelming debut from the Royal Antwerp signing.
Unfortunately for Balikwisha, that theme continued, but on Sunday, as Celtic left it late to beat Motherwell, the man from Belgium came alive.

Michel-Ange Balikwisha’s message to the Celtic fans
Brendan Rodgers’ side were heading towards more dropped points, even though Benjamin Nygren had equalised following an error from the Motherwell keeper.
As Celtic were pushing for a winner in stoppage time, Arne Engels played the ball to Balikwisha inside the box, and he brilliantly delivered a ball across the box for Daizen Maeda to head home.
After the match, Balikwisha took to Instagram to send this brilliant message to the Celtic Park faithful.
‘It’s just a matter of time…’ wrote Balikwisha.
Celtic’s next five matches, and does Balikwisha start?
One issue Rodgers has is that several players want to play on that left flank, including Sebastian Tounekti, Maeda, and Balikwisha himself.
Of course, with the European matches in full flow, the Celtic manager will have to rotate, but does Balikwisha start after the October international break?
Celtic’s next five games:
- Dundee (A), Sunday 19 October, Premiership
- Sturm Graz (H), Thursday 23 October, Europa League
- Hearts (A), Sunday 26 October, Premiership
- Falkirk (H), Wednesday 29 October, Premiership
- Rangers (N), Sunday 2 November, League Cup semi-final
