Read MoreMikael Lustig really impressed with Alistair Johnston's 'fantastic' Celtic start
Celtic legend Mikael Lustig has been speaking about Alistair Johnston and he’s admitted that he’s been really impressed with the full-back this season.
Lustig picked up 16 trophies during his time at Celtic Park while playing as a right-back, ending his time in Glasgow with an unprecedented ‘treble treble’.
It’s still very early days in terms of Johnston’s career at Celtic as he only made the switch to Parkhead back in December, but he’s already picked up his first trophy at the club.
The 23-year-old has got off to a brilliant start under Ange Postecoglou and it seems that he has impressed Lustig.
Lustig praises ‘fantastic’ Johnston
Speaking to Celtic TV, Lustig spoke about Johnston’s start to life in Glasgow and praised him for how quickly he’s settled in.
“He’s made the perfect start,” he said. “His first game was the derby as well.
“That’s football. He took his chance straight away and ever since then he’s been really reliable.
“He played on the big stage with Canada at the World Cup and he’s been fantastic since day one. I’m really happy for him.” as quoted by The Daily Record.
Johnston has slotted in seamlessly at Celtic and it’s brilliant to see him hit the ground running under Postecoglou.
The Canadian star has only played 13 games for the club, but he’s already making a huge impact down the right-hand side.
Of course, Lustig excelled in the same position during his time at Celtic and it’s great to hear that he’s been impressed with Johnston’s form.
The talented right-back has featured in nearly every game under Postecoglou since making the switch from the MLS, having only been named amongst the substitutes on two occasions.
The early signs are certainly promising in terms of the impact Johnston could have on this Celtic side and you get the feeling there is plenty more to come from the exciting full-back.
