In his pre-match press conference ahead of Celtic’s game against Hibs, Neil Lennon had some encouraging news on the injury front.
He revealed he is ‘hopeful’ that the duo of Mikey Johnston and Nir Bitton may return to first-team training on Monday.
That would be very good timing for the Hoops, as it could give the pair a chance of being available for the Europa League group stage match against Cluj, which takes place on Thursday.
Both players excelled in derby win

It would be good news for Celtic when the pair return, as they have both been key men for the Hoops this season. Both excelled in the recent 2-0 win over Rangers.
Johnston set up Odsonne Edouard’s opening goal with a fine pass. Whilst Bitton was solid alongside Christopher Jullien in the centre of the Celtic defence, before he picked up the injury which has him sidelined.
As Celtic have continued winning in the absence of Bitton and Johnston, both players may find it difficult to get back into the team at first.
However, as both players have been first-team regulars this season no doubt they would feature for the Hoops again sooner rather than later.
A start in Europa League may be too soon

It may be a bit too soon for either Johnston or Bitton to start against Cluj. However, having the players on the bench would be a boost for the Hoops.
Johnston especially could be effective for Celtic as a second-half substitute. It remains to be seen if that will happen or not, however, the fact that the duo are close to a return can only be good news for Celtic.
