Celtic have been without attacker Mikey Johnston for a good while. He has not played for the Hoops since the 2-0 win over Rangers at the start of September. That is almost three months ago. However, it seems that he could be on the verge of a comeback, and the timing is good for the Hoops.
The Daily Record reported that Johnston was spotted in first-team training ahead of Saturday’s game against Livingston. That might well indicate that a first-team return is not far away, as you don’t train with your team-mates unless you are fit.
Attacker will miss league game

The timing is good for Celtic as Neil Lennon confirmed to the Celtic Twitter account on Friday that Hoops winger Mohamed Elyounoussi will miss the game against Livingston.
That might well mean that Johnston, if he is fit to start the game, could replace Elyounnoussi in the starting line-up for the game against Livingston.
It should not be forgotten about that Johnston was a first choice in the Hoops team until he picked up his injury. What a bonus it would be for Celtic to have two attacking players of that calibre battling it out to be selected on the left-wing position.
Hoops lucky to have two players for one role

That is a situation that many teams will be envious of, as both players have been in excellent form this season. It will be interesting to see if Johnston starts against Livingston. That might be a bit of a gamble as he has been out of action for so long.
But if he is fit to train, then perhaps he is fit to play from the start. It would certainly be a boost for Celtic to have Johnston back in the line-up. He will be desperate to show what he can do after being out of action for so long.
With so many big games coming up in the weeks ahead, Johnston’s return has come at just the right time for the Hoops.
