Celtic winger Mikey Johnston has shared a promising update on his road to recovery.
The Hoops youngster hasn’t featured for the club since the 3-0 win over St. Johnstone in late January.
He limped off after 67 minutes in that game, with suspected knee ligament damage.

Neil Lennon confirmed the 21-year-old has undergone surgery recently (The Herald) but now it seems like Johnston has stepped up his recovery further.
The Scotland youth cap took to Instagram on Friday afternoon to say: “23 days post op. Back on the grass.”

Johnston’s pace is badly missed
It was a short update from the talented winger, but one that is promising none-the-less.
He has been a forgotten man at Celtic Park in recent months, due to the fact he has played so little football in 2020.
Johnston made 11 league appearances last season, netting twice, but the vast majority of those came in the first few months of the campaign.
His lowly current status doesn’t mean that we haven’t missed him though. Johnston is a winger capable of dribbling past a man with brilliant feet.

There’s an argument we don’t have a similar player to him in the squad – as James Forrest and Mohamed Elyounoussi could be viewed as different types of players.
Hopefully Johnston takes it easy on his return. Perhaps, in the past, he has rushed back too soon.
It’s a big few months for him. Can he make an impact at the top level again? We’ll find out soon.
In other news, Hatem Elhamed and Nir Bitton have been given added responsibility ahead of Israel’s clash against Scotland
