Celtic winger Mikey Johnston has shared the incredible champagne moment in the dressing room at Hampden after a superb Scottish League Cup final win over Hibernian.
Johnston, an Academy graduate, got the massive opportunity to start yesterday’s final and showed real intent throughout his time on the pitch, even if sometimes the final ball wasn’t quite there.
After the game, there were class scenes in the Hampden changing rooms as Joe Hart sparked open the champagne and the team went wild. You can see the video on Johnston’s Instagram stories via this link.
Hart has really become one of the main men in this group of players, both in terms of leadership and his performances on a game-to-game basis.
Yesterday was a wonderful reward for the players who have worked so hard over the last few months to get everything moving in the right direction under Ange Postecoglou.
From career veterans like Hart to players who have had a difficult time at Celtic such as Johnston, the only way is up after the cup win.
It’s back to work for the Celts this week with matches against St Mirren and St Johnstone.
However, this should certainly boost confidence and give the team a platform to pick up more league victories ahead of a massive derby on January 2nd.
Yesterday meant everything, but these players have bigger goals in mind this season. You can sense it.
