With the amount of transfer chat and rumour surrounding Celtic hero, Matt O’Riley, the fans could be forgiven for thinking that he is definitely on his way out of the club.
But despite the media rumour and speculation, the Celtic midfielder remains at the club and, hopefully, will hang around for one more season to take a crack at the new-style Champions League after the summer.
Clearly, with interest in O’Riley extremely high, it could be just a matter of time before one of the big clubs makes an offer that Celtic cannot refuse.
And it seems that is what has surprised former Denmark international midfielder, Mikkel Beck.
Beck ‘surprised’ Matt O’Riley is still a Celtic player
Matt O’Riley has been brilliant for Celtic since his January 2022 move from MK Dons.
Winning seven trophies out of nine and impressive performances in the Champions League has made the Danish international one of the Parkhead club’s hottest properties, and Beck admits he’s surprised O’Riley is still at Celtic.
Beck said [Daily Record], “O’Riley didn’t have the best of games for Denmark when he’s been given a chance, but when you look at his stats for his club, he scored 18 goals for Celtic which is phenomenal.
“I’m surprised Celtic still have him and also surprised he didn’t get in the Denmark squad. We need goals and we don’t score enough.

“I believe he is a very good player and I will be surprised if he’s still at Celtic after this summer.”
The Celtic fans will be hoping that Beck will remain surprised after the summer as they pray O’Riley will remain at the club after the transfer window closes.
O’Riley’s goals and assists were crucial to Celtic winning the double last season and there is no doubt that losing a player of his ability will impact Brendan Rodgers’ plans to improve the Parkhead club’s fortunes on the European stage.
