Celtic loan watch, as Maik Nawrocki pushes for the title, and Shin Yamada’s goal drought continues

In the crazy world of football, Maik Nawrocki and Shin Yamada find themselves in the same place after their Celtic struggles.

The duo are out on loan in Germany’s second-tier, with Nawrocki joining Hannover 96 in the summer, and Yamada moving to SC Preußen Münster in January.

Nawrocki and Yamada were in the same boat at Celtic, and they were hardly playing before being shipped out to earn regular minutes.

On Sunday, as Celtic were losing to Hibernian, both players are experiencing mixed fortunes on either side of the Bundesliga 2 table.

Was Shin Yamada unfairly treated at Celtic?

Shin Yamada is yet to score for SC Preußen Münster

Yamada has joined a Münster side that are battling relegation, but he is yet to start a match since moving to the LVM-Preussenstadion, and also to score his first goal.

What will be even more worrying for the 25-year-old is that he has been a part of four matches, three appearances off the bench, and the other as an unused substitute.

And on Sunday, as Yamada’s team were losing 3-2 at home to FC Kaiserslautern, he was brought on for the final ten minutes, without making an impact, as Preußen Münster are now one point off bottom-placed SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

Maik Nawrocki is pushing for promotion with Hannover 96

Some feel Nawrocki should be playing for Celtic right now; in fact, with Auston Trusty’s red card, they could do with his services in the coming weeks.

Add in the fact that Celtic have been abject at the back this season, and it’s baffling that the Polish star was hardly used, even though he looked competent every time he took to the field.

Either way, after a slow start with Hannover, including not starting his first game since October, Nawrocki did earn a run of games before a few injuries halted his rise.

On Sunday, Nawrocki returned from the treatment room when he came off the bench for 23 minutes during his side’s goalless draw against SG Dynamo Dresden.

Hannover are four points off the top place, and are well in the race to earn a return to the Bundesliga.
