Celtic boss Neil Lennon has provided an injury update ahead of Celtic’s Champions League tie against Sarajevo on Wednesday night.
It turns out to be mixed news on that front for the Scottish Champions. The good news, as revealed by Lennon on the Celtic Twitter account, it that recent signing Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo has recovered from injury. Therefore, he will be available for the match.
Recent arrival set for Celtic Park debut
Other promising news is that Vakoun Issouf Bayo is close to a return to training. However, in-form attacker Mikey Johnston is dealing with a hip strain. Whilst Marian Shved has a groin injury.
🗣 NL: “’Johnston’s got a hip strain, Shved is coming back from a groin injury and Bayo is close to returning to training. Bolingoli is fine and in the squad.”

Dealing with the positive first, it is good to see that Mbombo has recovered from injury. He should start the game at left-back, ahead of Jonny Hayes.
Absence of in-form attacker is a blow
On the down side, the absence of Johnston is a blow for both the player and the team. He has been in great form in pre-season. He took that into competitive football with a great goal in the 3-1 first leg win over Sarajevo.
Thankfully the Hoops do have other attacking options available. But the absence of Johnston is unfortunate. As for Shved and Bayo, hopefully the duo return sooner rather than later.
The pair have not yet been able to make an impact in their short Celtic careers. Hopefully that changes in the near future.
