Wilfried Nancy’s Celtic announcement was a long time coming.
Hoops fans had waited over five weeks since the resignation of Brendan Rodgers’ with Martin O’Neill doing a fantastic job on a permanent basis.
Once it became apparent that Nancy was the chosen man, it became a waiting game, and MLS experts were summoned for information on the Frenchman.
We learned about Nancy’s 3-4-3, and the trajectory of his career across the Atlantic. A lot of what we heard sounded good.
And now, despite a rough first week, MLS legend and commentator Brian Dunseth has doubled down on the positivity.
MLS commentator Brian Dunseth on Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy
It’s been a challenging first week for Nancy, but with a win in Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren could alleviate a lot of the stress.
And from the ‘private conversations’ that Dunseth has had with Nancy, there are still plenty of reasons to be positive.

Speaking to Ratings, Dunseth gave some brilliant insight into Nancy’s general demeanour.
He said: “I really enjoyed my conversations with Wilfried Nancy.
As a broadcaster and having the ability to interview him in real time and have private conversations in the build up to Columbus Crew matches, I’ve really liked the way he’s handled himself.
“I love his interpretation on life and management, from an individual standpoint and a collective standpoint…I think he’s been brilliant. Before he went to Columbus, I covered him in a couple of matches with CF Montreal with ESPN, and I was just super impressed.
“He’s a good soul whose philosophical kind of tone reminds me a lot of like Pablo Mastroni (USA legend) in terms of how he waxes poetic about life, and you find yourself nodding and going along with the way he sees things.
“My fear is the same as any manager that takes over mid-season for a team that’s struggling and that needs new leadership.
“My hope is that he’s insanely successful, because I love his style of play, I love his identity, I love the way he interprets the game with the ball.”
