Celtic’s St Mirren victory tonight wasn’t particularly glamorous, but we got the job done at the end of the day.
Central to that was an opening goal from Mohamed Elyounoussi. The Norwegian left-winger managed to bag his fifth goal for the club since his loan deal from Southampton began in late August.

When Odsonne Edouard rattled the post with a fine strike, Mo was on hand to slot home the rebound after a favourable bounce of the ball. It was exactly the goal he needed to continue his own individual form and keep his place in the side.
And it appears that supporters are warming to him more and more. Tonight’s goal certainly helped, and here we take a look at some of the reaction to his performance:

Cemented his place after tonight
Is it now fair to say that Elyounoussi is now the first-choice at left-mid? After all, can you seriously drop him given his current form with the club?
When Mikey Johnston was sidelined after Ibrox, it didn’t look likely that anyone was going to keep him out of the team. However, with Mo putting in consistently impressive displays and offering a fine goal return, he surely can’t be dropped.

As mentioned previously, he now has five for the season. To put his form into perspective, Johnston only had three before his injury.
For us, the spot is now Elyounoussi’s to lose. He doesn’t deserve to be dropped anytime soon, regardless of who’s available for the position.

Celtic face Hibernian at Hampden on Saturday evening in the Betfred Cup. Elyounoussi is hardly likely to be out of the team. He’ll be one of the main catalysts for us going forward once again, and with the supporters seriously getting behind him, he has plenty of momentum these days.
He’s growing in confidence and proving exactly why he’s been a shrewd signing by Neil Lennon this season. And, after tonight, that left-wing spot should be his for the foreseeable future.
