The Celtic support were treated to some new culinary delights on Tuesday evening.
The first-team were returning to Celtic Park for the first-time in nine weeks. While the new season often brings about unbridled excitement and fresh players, the support also have a new addition on the concourse.
Popular restaurant Smokey Trotters announced on Tuesday via Instagram that they would be selling food inside Celtic Park this season.
They wrote: “It’s been a year of meetings, phone calls, messages, emails and jumping through some “hoops”. See what I did there?
“The time has come that we can announce Smokey Trotters Kitchen will be slingin oot streetfood scran from the Jock Stein West Stand Lower at Celtic Park.”
They say they will begin with loaded fries and grilled cheese sandwiches, but promise more “bangin dishes” will arrive in the near future.
Smokey Trotters made their Celtic Park debut during the Athletic Club clash and will be a regular fixture for match-going supporters this season.
With over 19,000 followers on Instagram, they are pretty highly regarded in the Glasgow area.
Having tried out their base restaurant, situated around a mile away from Celtic Park on London Road, this writer has high hopes for what they can offer fans.
They specialise in the likes of wings and burgers so it will be interesting to see if they are soon selling them on matchdays.
Judging from some shares on their Instagram stories, the loaded fries have gone down well with supporters on their debut.
