There was a bit of a shock in the most recent Scotland squad named by Alex McLeish. Celtic’s Lewis Morgan named in the squad to face Kazakhstan and San Marino.
Morgan is currently on loan at Sunderland, and has been a regular for them since joining them in January. Still, it is a bit of a shock to see a League One player selected for Scotland.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Morgan when he returns to Celtic at the end of the season. He failed to make the breakthrough in his first six months at the club, making only 13 appearances, mostly from the bench.
A lot will depend on next manager

A lot could depend on who the manager will be at Celtic next season. Morgan didn’t get much of a look-in from the man who signed in, Brendan Rodgers.
It is too early to tell if this would change under Neil Lennon, should he be named as the permanent Hoops boss.
The Biggest issue facing player

Probably the biggest issue facing Morgan is that he is in direct competition with James Forrest for a place in the team. Forrest is one of the Hoops’ most important players. There is no chance of that changing under Lennon.
Perhaps another loan deal would best for the player. That worked for Ryan Christie. Perhaps the same could happen for Morgan. Morgan hasn’t been at Celtic for long, but his long-term future at the club seems unclear.
