Celtic are on the verge of making Nicolas Kuhn their first signing of the January transfer window – and it’s about time.
Hoops fans have been waiting impatiently for their club to splash the cash this month and finally, it is happening with the imminent arrival of the 24-year-old.
German winger Kuhn – who will sign a four-and-a-half year deal – is expected to join the club for a fee of £2.8m plus add-ons from Austrian side Rapid Vienna and will provide an extra option for Brendan Rodgers in attack.
Kuhn’s representatives were snapped by photographers at Glasgow Airport on Monday evening so all that is left to do from a Celtic point of view is to announce the signing.
But are Celtic fans pleased with the pending incoming transfer? Or do many have their reservations about Kuhn before he’s even kicked a ball for us?
Celtic fans on Nicolas Kuhn

Supporters were asked on X by popular Celtic fan account ‘Everything Celtic’ what they make of the imminent arrival of Nicolas Kuhn from the Austrian Bundesliga. And most of the replies are of a similar nature:
Kuhn can’t be judged yet
Every Celtic fan is entitled to their opinion but the crux of the matter is that Kuhn needs a chance to prove himself.
It’s wholly unfair to provide assumptions before he’s even stepped onto the pitch for the Bhoys. Granted, his scoring record isn’t great – just three goals in 22 games for Rapid Vienna this season – but there are reasons to be optimistic.
As we wrote on Sunday, Kuhn ranks highly in a number of other Austrian Bundesliga individual stats this campaign and has the backing of Scottish right-back Max Johnston, who has faced Kuhn whilst playing for Sturm Graz.
There are Celtic fans out there who subscribe to the view that he could be a promising addition. But at the same time, when the majority of others aren’t feeling too optimistic about Kuhn’s arrival, that tells its own story.
