Brendan Rodgers’ departure from Celtic yesterday certainly had Hoops fans angry, but it also made them sit up and take notice of something.
In the final day of the summer transfer window, Moussa Dembele forced through a move to Lyon from Parkhead. The eye-watering deal saw him depart for £19.7million, with Celtic fans furious at the time.
The Frenchman had initial bids for his services rejected by Celtic from Lyon. Brendan Rodgers had subsequently claimed that the club had made no promises to Dembele. That’s despite the fact Dembele’s Twitter posts on transfer deadline day seemed to suggest otherwise.
Yet, Dembele posted the following Twitter posts after Rodgers’ move to Leicester City was confirmed.
Dembele suggested Rodgers wasn’t to be trusted
There’s no denying as to what Dembele is hinting at here. He’s clearly suggesting that he was right to suggest that Rodgers wasn’t a man to be trusted.
The speed of the Northern Irishman’s departure from Parkhead certainly raises eyebrows. With Celtic facing tough trips to both Hearts and Hibs this week, the club has a massive period on its hands.

Rodgers was prepared to put that at risk just so he could swap Parkhead for Leicester. Added to that, it’s clear he was happy to sacrifice his Parkhead legacy just to get his switch to the King Power Stadium.
It’s hard not to feel that there’s some real hypocrisy shown here by Rodgers. The first formal offer that came in for him and he’s off.
It’s fair to say that Celtic fans themselves were apologetic to Dembele over the situation.

At the end of the day, Dembele was right. Rodgers has seriously done Celtic over here. And if this is how he treats Celtic, goodness knows what he’ll therefore do to Leicester if he’s successful.
From us at 67HailHail, we’re sorry too Moussa. Turns out you were right about Rodgers’ character all along.
