Former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele was one of the club’s supporters that enjoyed today’s fixture against Rangers, going by his Instagram account.
The derby specialist, now at Lyon, is never shy about his continuing admiration for the Hoops and took to the social media site ahead of the match to declare: “Once a Celt, always a Celt.”
With Neil Lennon’s side going on to win the match 2-0 thanks in part to his old pal and compatriot Odsonne Edouard, Dembele will have enjoyed seeing his former club pick up another huge derby win.
In two seasons Dembele scored seven goals against Rangers, most famously netting a hat-trick in Brendan Rodgers’ first match against the Ibrox side as manager.
Edouard’s latest effort has him well on the way to matching or bettering that tally. The Celtic striker has now scored five times in seven matches against our city rivals.
His all-round play is beginning to get up there with some of the best Dembele produced in Glasgow too.
Whether competing in Europe and in domestic action, Edouard is proving to be the perfect replacement for the Lyon man, who himself continues to impress in Ligue 1.
Dembele netted 20 goals last season for his current side and has already scored three in three matches this term.
The way the striker left for France obviously didn’t sit well with some supporters, but his incredible form during the ‘Invincibles’ campaign will ensure he is always remembered fondly by many.
