Two goals from Celtic icon Moussa Dembele knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League tonight, as Lyon progressed with a 3-1 scoreline.

Lyon took the lead in the quarter-final but found themselves level heading into the closing stages of the tie.

Dembele didn’t start the match but would enter the fray in the second half and ruin the dreams of Pep Guardiola and his squad of superstars.

The Frenchman joined Lyon directly from Celtic in 2018 and has gone on to emerge as one of the hottest strikers on the continent, linked with big-money moves to England.

His increased reputation is a great advert for the development system at the Bhoys and our ability to turn rough diamonds into gems capable of competing with Europe’s best.

Lyon now have the gargantuan task of beating Bayern Munich in the semi-final if they are to go all the way.

However, with Dembele there provide a bit of magic, nothing can be ruled out in these one-legged knockout fixtures.

It’s fair to say Dembele’s finishes created waves amongst the online Celtic support, with many taking to social media to share their delight that the 24-year-old is continuing to prove he is one of the best players to have graced Scotland over the last decade.

Many pointed to the fact that the Frenchman first hit the European mainstream against Man City at Celtic Park in that thrilling 3-3 draw back in 2016.

He loves a double against the English outfit.

These fans offered their thoughts on it all, with Chris Sutton weighing in too…

In other news, Celtic have been quoted a price for Shane Duffy.
