Moussa Dembele last summer made a game-changing decision to leave Celtic for Lyon, and he hasn’t looked back.

The Frenchman left the Hoops in unceremonious fashion on transfer Deadline Day. A saga that involved a falling out between he and Brendan Rodgers led to him being sold for nearly £20million.

In the end, it was a bitter end to what was an extremely positive relationship. The Celtic supporters worshipped the former Fulham man during his time and Glasgow. And for Dembele, Celtic were a terrific platform for him to impress suitors around Europe.

And he’s been hitting the goal trail in France since August too. So far during his time in Ligue 1, Dembele has managed to smash home 11 goals in 32 Lyon appearances. He’s also nabbed a cool five assists during his debut campaign so far.

That’s all arrived despite the fact Dembele has been battling the likes of Nabil Fekir and Maxwell Cornet for game-time. He’s fair been holding his own, and bagged a brace in Lyon’s last match – a 5-1 hammering of Tolouse at home. You can watch his two goals in the highlights video here.

Dembele’s new club sit third in Ligue 1, just five points from second-place. He’s bagged goals against the likes of PSG, Lille, and Shakhtar Donetsk since signing for the French outfit. His PSG goal helped Lyon to a 2-1 win – ending Paris’ 21-game unbeaten streak in France.

Still to earn elusive France call-up

The only downside for him is the fact he’s still to be capped by the French national team. He’s still to even be called up, but there’s no shame in that when you consider he’s up against the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Antoinie Griezmann to name a couple.

He’s still just 22-years of age, which is crazy to think. It’s also clear he’s playing in the right environment, and made the right decision to quit Parkhead when he did.

He most recently hit out at former manager Rodgers, appearing to hint that he had warned the Celtic fans he was not to be trusted.

Celtic fans responded to his tweets with apologies, and the bitterness that once consumed our support regarding his departure seems to have waned.

One thing’s for sure, however, Dembele quite clearly made the right move.
