Moussa Dembele responds to Sutton as Brown, Bitton and Lustig congratulate him on UCL heroics
Moussa Dembele has been basking in the glory of a UEFA Champions League quarter-final victory over Manchester City in the last 24 hours, as his Celtic connections take centre stage.
The Bhoys icon scored a late double against Pep Guardiola’s outfit after coming off the bench in the 75th minute, with the score deadlocked at 1-1.
His Lyon side will now move on to face Bayern Munich in a massive semi-final.
Celtic fans were understandably delighted to see a former player show his skills at the highest level, having loved Dembele’s contributions in Glasgow during the Brendan Rodgers era.
Former striker Chris Sutton also got in touch, with Dembele swiftly responding to his Twitter post.
Sutton had initially stated: “Delighted for Moussa Dembele. Another player developed in Scotland and stupidly shunned by Premier League clubs… he just knocked out moneybags Manchester City… when will clubs south of the border learn…”
Thank you Chris I appreciate it 😊! The semifinal will be another battle but I’m use to it 😉 https://t.co/5B8MqWq0T1

Celtic stars past and present also took to social media to send on their best, with captain Scott Brown, utility man Nir Bitton and former defender Mikael Lustig all amongst those congratulating him on Instagram.
Even as Dembele climbs towards the peak of club football, it’s heartening to know he is still rooted in the history of Celtic, even though he was only at the club for a short period.
His goals primarily benefit Lyon of course but his rising reputation can only be a good advert for the recruitment project at the Hoops.
Any potential signings may look at the progress of Dembele, and others like Kieran Tierney, and think that Celtic Park is a fine destination on the route to the top.
Sutton is right to note that Scottish football is often overlooked but, with performances like last night’s, surely that won’t be the case forever.
