Moussa Dembele is still feeling the love of Celtic supporters everywhere, five years to the day after officially signing for the club.
Dembele arrived as a free agent from Fulham in the initial days of the Brendan Rodgers reign.
It didn’t take him long to announce himself as a goal threat. The Frenchman would go on to net an impressive 51 goals in 94 appearances for the club, also providing 13 assists. [Transfermarkt]
More than that though he was a big-game performer and a derby specialist. He became one of the biggest heroes to the supporters in recent years, before looking for a lucrative move to Ligue 1 with Lyon.
Now his career is at a crossroads after a difficult loan spell to La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
But he hasn’t forgotten his Celtic roots. He took to Twitter today to send a class message to the Bhoys, stating: “5 years already Celtic! Until this day you guys are still grateful for the goals I scored and I will always be grateful for the love and recognition you have for me!”
Still just 24, Dembele is almost guaranteed to end up at a big club next season. It’ll be fascinating to see where he plies his trade.
As you can imagine, many Celtic fans have flocked to his Tweet this afternoon to leave a comment or simply interact with a like.
The big man will forever remain an idol to a generation of supporters.
In other news, Kieran Tierney has offered advice to Adam Montgomery.
