Celtic winger James Forrest reckons his teammates will be buzzing to see former striker Moussa Dembele in Lyon this week when the two sides meet in a pre-season friendly, The Scottish Sun reports.

Dembele left the Hoops under a bit of a cloud in 2018, acting up in training and essentially forcing a move to the Ligue 1 side at the end of a summer transfer window.

However, he remains a popular figure with Celtic supporters and is regularly found on social media bigging up his former side and the fans.

It seems he is still popular with his former teammates too, with Forrest revealing that the striker keeps in touch with the squad and even celebrated the 2018/19 title win with the players in the dressing room.

That was the day we beat Hearts 2-1 at Paradise and were presented with the Premiership trophy.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, Forrest said: “Everybody will be buzzing to see Moussa. Most of the boys here played with him and it always feels a bit strange when you go from being team-mates to playing against someone.

“Moussa has kept in touch. He came over when we got the league trophy last year and he was in the dressing room with us after the match.

“We’ve had a really tight, close squad for the last few years and it’s the same with a few others who have left. They keep in touch and are always welcome.”

Dembele will be an opponent of Celtic this Saturday at the Groupama Stadium when we face Rudi Garcia’s Lyon side.

The French boss has promised to field a strong team as they prepare for a knockout Champions League clash with Juventus in August.

The former Celtic forward was in lightning form for Lyon throughout 2019/20, scoring 22 goals and assisting seven times in 42 appearances (Transfermarkt).

Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer will have their work cut out containing him next weekend.

Hopefully we are not on the receiving end of a famous Dembelition.
