Moussa Dembele has stated that the Rangers fans won’t have forgotten him as he reiterated his love for Celtic.
Dembele will be back in Scotland on Thursday night as Lyon open their Europa League campaign against the Ibrox club. It will be the Frenchman’s first return to Scotland since leaving Celtic in 2018.
The powerful striker has always maintained a positive relationship with the Hoops support. It comes after a superb couple of years at Parkhead in which he bagged 52 goals in 94 games for the Bhoys. Seven came against Rangers [Transfermarkt].

And he’s again reiterated his love for the Hoops as he discussed his positive record in Glasgow derby matches.
As quoted by the Record, Dembele said: “Celtic are one of the greatest clubs in the world – the way the fans treated me throughout my time in Glasgow was very special. I will always be a Celtic fan. Being back in Glasgow will be a good feeling for me – I have some good memories of playing in Old Firm games and at Ibrox.
“That success I had was in a Celtic jersey but it means nothing for the game on Thursday. Now I arrive in Glasgow as a Lyon player and want to show Glasgow what I can do once again.
“I don’t expect the best of receptions but that doesn’t matter to me. I know the rivalry between Celtic and Rangers and as an ex-Celtic player it is normal that I won’t get a good reception. I have a good record against them for Celtic – I am sure they have not forgotten that.”
Moussa Dembele returns to Ibrox an adored figure of the Celtic support
Dembele has shown a keen love for the club ever since leaving for Lyon three years ago. Despite the disappointment surrounding the nature of his move, the Frenchman has kept a positive relationship with supporters via social media.
He’s one of the first to congratulate Celtic on any major achievements secured or big results earned. You can tell there’s a deep connection there that won’t ever go away.
It’s not common we take an interest in Rangers games that don’t involve Celtic. However, you can’t not be intrigued by Dembele’s return to Scotland.

It’ll be interesting to see what shape he’s in and what level he’s operating at. Remember, the frontman was on loan at Atletico Madrid last season and has had his injury problems too.
This season, he appears to be taking his second chance with Lyon with both hands. He also heads to Ibrox in form after netting four goals in his last three games.
Hopefully he can remind the Rangers fans why they feared him so much during his time in Scotland. And you just know that a goalscoring return to Glasgow would satisfy him immensely.
