Former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has won his first trophy since leaving the club in 2018, helping Atletico Madrid to a superb La Liga title.

Dembele joined the Spanish club during the January transfer window on a loan-to-buy basis from Lyon.

Covid-19 and subsequent fitness issues have limited his exposure to first-team football, but he has regularly featured on the bench and made seven appearances in all competitions.

He was an unused substitute for today’s match away to Valladolid.

The 2-1 victory, secured with a goal from former Barcelona and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, was enough to earn Atletico the title.

Dembele remains a cult hero with supporters, many of whom have tracked his career progress since leaving Celtic.

Still just 24, he has the potential to go on and win many more trophies at the highest level, adding to his haul while he played under Brendan Rodgers.

The Frenchman’s future is uncertain given his lack of match action in Spain.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for him in recent weeks as they consider their future striking options. [Football London]

Congratulations on your success Moussa. Let’s hope your Lyon sell-on fee eventually nets Celtic a decent amount of cash eventually!
