Some Celtic supporters have adapted the Stone Roses anthem ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ to fit striker Odsonne Edouard, changing the lyrics to ‘I Wanna Be Edouard’, and one member of the band approves of the song, the National reports.

Odsonne Edouard is a firm favourite of the Celtic support, and you can understand why. He has scored 23 goals this season, and his performances have been excellent.

Song shows player’s popularity with support

You know when a player is popular with the support when they begin a song in the player’s honour.

That is the case with Edouard, with the song ‘I Wanna Be Edouard”.

Now it can be disclosed that one of the members of the Stone Roses, Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield, approves of the song being sung by the Celtic support.

Interestingly, the National quotes former Celtic striker Brian McClair as he texted the Stone Roses bass player about the fans’ anthem.

“That’s me made”

“I said that Manchester United enter the pitch to one of his songs and now Celtic sing another about a player. Mani answered ‘That’s me made.’ His two favourite football teams had a connection to his band and that was enough for him” McClair said, as quoted by the National.

It is good to see that a member of the band the Celtic fans use to salute one of their heroes approves of the song, and it will surely be sung even louder now if that’s possible.

Edouard’s great form this season will surely attract interest from clubs in the summer, but hopefully this isn’t the last season that the Hoops fans get to serenade Edouard with the Stone Roses anthem after he finds the back of the net.
