Daniel Arzani’s Celtic debut lasted just 18 minutes. The young Aussie looked bright coming off the bench in Celtic’s 5-0 win at Dens Park.

He even laid a goal on a plate for Kieran Tierney, who couldn’t finish off the superb cross.

It was a long anticipated debut from the on-loan Manchester City winger, who replaced Odsonne Edouard with the score at 5-0.

It all went wrong for Arzani when he pulled up after an innocuous challenge. He stood up after treatment before breaking down again.

The youngster was stretchered off to applause from the Celtic support. He appeared to applaud back in recognition to the support.

The injury mystery

News began to spread surrounding the severity of Arzani’s injury. The Australian media started the frenzy claiming Arzani’s season is over with an ACL injury.

However during the broadcast of the game, BT Sport claimed Arzani was ‘up walking about’ after being stretchered off.

Brendan Rodgers also played down the injury, citing Arzani’s applause towards the Celtic support as a positive.

The news has come as a blow for Arzani and Celtic. Celtic’s injury list is bordering on the laughable. It seems Celtic players are dropping like flies at the moment.

No doubt it will be something Rodgers will address at today’s press conference.

It may be a case of the Aussie media jumping the gun. Either way, injury ruined an encouraging Celtic debut for Daniel Arzani.
