Celtic interim manager Neil Lennon has received some bad news on the injury front. He has confirmed that centre-back Dedryck Boyata is unlikely to feature again for the Hoops this season.

Boyata picked up a hamstring injury in the recent 2-1 win over Rangers, and the prognosis does not sound good for the defender.

“In terms of Dedryck, it’s a bad one. It’s likely he’ll be out for the season” Lennon revealed to BT Sport, as cited by the Daily Record.

It would be a shame for the player for his Celtic career to end this way. He will certainly be a miss in the quest to win a third consecutive treble.

His partnerships with Kristoffer Ajer and Filip Benkovic are a key reason why the Hoops have the best defensive record in the league.

Sadly, now it looks as if Boyata his played his last game for the club. His contract runs out at the end of the season, and it looks unlikely that he will sign a new deal.

Boyata, like any other defender, is prone to making errors at times. But when he is concentrated and on his game, he is the best defender at the club.

He is a player Celtic will miss. Not only for the remainder of this season, but also in the future should he depart the club in the summer.
