Celtic interim boss Neil Lennon isn’t normally a manager who singles out players in his squad. But he has made an exception recently.
He has claimed that the trio of James Forrest, Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor set the ‘benchmark’ at the club.
“They are academy players who have come through, so we are proud of that” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“Set a very good benchmark”
“They set a very good benchmark for others as does Tierney.”

The trio certainly set the standard for what young players should look to achieve at Celtic Park.
They have not looked back since making their breakthrough into the Celtic side.
Picked up plenty of accolades

Both McGregor and Forrest find themselves nominated for Scotland’s player of the year, whilst Tierney picked up the young player accolade for a record three seasons in a row.
You can tell how important a player becomes when the team gets worse any time they don’t play. This is certainly the case with McGregor, Forrest and Tierney.
The Hoops just aren’t as good a team when one of the trio is missing. This has certainly been the case with Tierney this season.
The left-back has had to deal with a variety of injuries, and the Hoops aren’t the same side when he is not in the team.
Still, the trio are fit and available for now. Should this remain the case until the end of the season Celtic will have a great chance of winning the domestic treble.
