Neil Lennon confirms good news about Leigh Griffiths
Celtic boss Neil Lennon had mixed news on the injury front for Hoops fans after the recent win over St Mirren. Firstly, the bad news. He revealed that Vakoun Issouf Bayo could be out for six weeks. The good news though is that Leigh Griffiths is set to return to first-team training.
“Wait and see”
“Bayo may require surgery, he’s seeing a specialist so if he does need surgery we are looking at maybe six weeks. Leigh Griffiths is back training tomorrow, but we’ll have to wait and see his condition” he told the Celtic Twitter account.

Bayo’s injury has come at a bad time for the player. He would have wanted to establish himself in the squad as the second-choice striker in Griffiths’ absence.
Now he’s not going to feature for the Hoops until December at the earliest.
Good timing for player’s return
On to Griffiths, and it is good timing for the Hoops that he has returned to training. At the moment, Celtic have only one fit striker in Odsonne Edouard. That is a situation that could cause problems for the team should Edouard get injured.
Therefore, it is vital that another player who can play up-front is available for the Hoops sooner rather than later. Griffiths is that player. However, it might take him a while to get back to full fitness, as he has not featured for the Hoops since August.
However, Neil Lennon will be the judge of that when the player makes his return to full training. A fit Griffiths could be a very useful player to have in the Celtic side, perhaps now more than ever.
